ARTISTIC CHORAL REPERTOIRE
Our goal is to instill in each child a love of music
and a desire to share their artistry with an audience through expressive
performance. One of the primary avenues of teaching musical excellence
is the study and performance of fine choral literature. We believe
that "children should be led to musical masterpieces by means
of musical masterpieces" (Zoltan Kodaly). This great body of
choral repertoire from all styles and historic periods will provide
the foundation for an artistic experience in the life of each child.
AGE-APPROPRIATE PROFESSIONAL VOCAL TRAINING
Singing is a complex psycho-motor activity which
is taught through a series of fun and engaging vocal exercises at
the beginning of each rehearsal. We understand the physiological
principles governing the child's voice and assist them in reaching
their vocal potential, appropriate to their age and development.
SEQUENTIAL MUSIC THEORY SIGHT-SINGING
CURRICULUM
Music
theory skills are taught during our half hour musicianship classes
immediately preceding our regular rehearsal time. The purpose of
the musicianship classes is to increase chorister knowledge and
practical application of music theory skills, both written and aural.
The direct result produces better musicians in general, and specifically
better sight readers and choral singers.
